Acquisition economics.

Measure what one new client is worth to your business over the relationship, and whether that value supports a dedicated demand channel, built and run for you.

Our clients have opened high-value conversations at companies like these, and thousands more

The figures are yours; the thresholds are the ones our work is built around. An indication only: fit is assessed in diligence before any engagement.

Lifetime value

Six-figure lifetime value: the tier we are built to serve.

One client at this value justifies a dedicated channel of qualified opportunities, built on proprietary technology, market intelligence and established partnerships, operated for you.

Nothing you enter is stored or sent.

How the tool works.

What it measures

The lifetime value of one client relationship: the gross profit a new client brings over the whole time it stays with you. It sets that figure against the tier our work is built for, where annual contract value is high five figures, six figures and above.

The inputs

Three of your own figures: annual contract value, what one new client pays you in a year; gross margin, the share of that revenue you keep; and years a client stays, how long the relationship typically runs. Nothing you enter is stored or sent.

How to read the result

The tool multiplies the three: contract value, times margin, times years. The panel shows that lifetime value with the sum beneath it, then where it sits: below the tier, contract value at the tier but lifetime value short of it, six-figure lifetime value, or seven.

A worked example, in illustrative figures

Illustrative figures, not a client: a contract worth $250,000 a year, a 70% gross margin and a relationship of three years. $250,000 × 70% × 3 years gives a lifetime value of $525,000: six-figure lifetime value, the tier we are built to serve.

Lifetime value is one side of the arithmetic.

The tool measures one relationship. A predictable channel also changes how the revenue behind it is valued: from revenue the business rents to revenue it owns.

Rented revenue

3–5×

Illustrative EBITDA multiple

Revenue that rests on the owner’s relationships and a few concentrated accounts.

  • New clients arrive through the founder or the partners
  • Most of the revenue sits with a few accounts
  • A pipeline no one can forecast with confidence

Owned revenue

6–10×

Illustrative EBITDA multiple

Recurring, diversified revenue that does not depend on any one person.

  • A demand channel the business directs itself
  • Revenue spread across a wider base of clients
  • A pipeline that can be planned and reported

Recurring revenue

A channel that runs continuously adds repeatable revenue beside project-led and referral-led work.

Owner independence

Winning new clients no longer rests on the founder’s or the partners’ own relationships.

Customer diversification

A wider client base, so the business depends less on any one account.

What the conventional response costs at this tier.

The value of one relationship is realized only if the approach that wins it does not spend it first.

See how an engagement runs

From one client’s value to what an engagement expects.

An engagement is planned around your own close rate: how many accepted opportunities become signed clients. The lifetime value the tool gives is the last figure in that calculation.

Long-run value supports the model; it never becomes a revenue guarantee. Your close rate is checked against your own records before terms are set.

  2. 02

Where one client funds the infrastructure.

Once annual contract value is high five figures, six figures and above, with lifetime value in six or seven figures, the arithmetic changes. The value of a single new client justifies market intelligence, proprietary technology, established partnerships and strategic relationships, operated on your behalf.

Below that line, demand generation built for velocity and volume is the model that fits, and we say so before any engagement begins.

Four things that turn the value into revenue.

Whether one client’s value is realized also rests on four things, each screened before an engagement begins.

See who we work with
Glass panes with gold edges, fanned out side by side

A named person responds to each opportunity, owns the proposal and closes. Without one, a qualified opportunity has nowhere to go.

Your team can serve more clients, at the pace agreed. Opportunities are paced to what your team can properly work, because demand that cannot be worked is not useful.

There are enough reachable accounts to sustain demand beyond a first round. A market too small for that is not a fit, whatever one client is worth.

Customers already buy the result. We do not take an unproven offer to market to test it.

The assumptions matter as much as the answer.

How is the figure calculated?

Annual contract value, multiplied by gross margin and by the number of years a client stays. Margin and annual revenue are held constant.

What does the calculation leave out?

Acquisition costs are not deducted, no discount rate is applied and no future expansion is assumed. It is an indication of value, not a valuation.

Which client should we enter?

The client you want to win, not the average. A blended average can conceal the difference between a smaller account and the strategic relationships your next mandate should pursue.

Is the result an assessment of fit?

No. It measures what one relationship is worth, nothing more. Whether your market can deliver it is assessed in diligence, at no cost, before a scope is agreed.
