Our thesis in full: why conventional demand generation breaks where one new client carries significant value, and what sustained growth requires instead.

Why volume-led demand breaks at six-figure ACV

At six-figure ACV, its economics fail before its execution does.

The threshold

Where the high-value tier begins

Where annual contract value is high five figures, six figures and above.

A maze of glass walls seen from above

A structural problem across sophisticated markets.

Traditional demand generation cannot handle buyer complexity, and reliance on referrals does not scale. Above the threshold, its economics fail before its methods are tested.

At this tier every approach carries your reputation, and volume-led methods spend it with a few decision-makers who will be approached again. Where the model breaks, the cost shows up in three places.

  • The reputational cost of broad approaches
  • Senior time lost to unqualified conversations
  • Cycles that outlast the effort behind them

The model fails on its economics first.

The conventional model is priced against small to mid-ticket deals, closed in two to six weeks by one or two people. Above the threshold the transaction is larger, the cycle longer and more decision-makers have to agree.

Each of those movements is a cost line, carried for the full length of the cycle before anything closes. Talent costs rise, timelines extend beyond quarters, and the infrastructure cannot be supported on a retainer built for transactional sales.

What the high-value tier requires.

When annual contract value is high five figures, six figures and above, one new client carries enough value to justify all four components.

A clear view of where demand is forming and which accounts are in market, including markets your current channels cannot reach. Our team reviews everything the intelligence surfaces.

Infrastructure built for complex buying groups and long cycles, developed in-house from the patterns of 1,500+ transactions. Our team operates it for you, so there is nothing to build or staff, unless you ask us to build it in-house.

Partner channels deployed on your mandate, alongside the infrastructure we build. They take your proposition to decision-makers your current channels cannot reach.

Warm introductions that open markets and counterparties your existing channels do not reach. Each decision-maker is approached where and how they prefer, by seniority and prior response.

Your channels continue. A separate one runs beside them.

What we build runs parallel to how you already sell, with no changes to your current processes.

Short answers on our thesis.

Why does demand generation break at this tier?

Not because its methods are wrong. The cost of working one opportunity rises with the size of the transaction, the length of the cycle and the number of decision-makers who must agree, while the revenue arrives quarters later.

Why not add headcount?

Most companies we meet have tried internal hires, agencies or new channels first, without durable results. This tier calls for proprietary technology, market intelligence and established partnerships, operated end to end.

Why can a retainer not carry it?

A clear view of the market and its priority accounts has to exist before the first approach, and every response has to be qualified. Retainers designed for transactional sales cannot fund that infrastructure.

Where does the conventional model still work?

Where deals are small to mid-ticket, cycles run two to six weeks and one or two people decide. Velocity and volume were built for those conditions, and there they work.

What does a channel change beyond the pipeline?

What the revenue is worth. Revenue that rests on the owner’s relationships and a few concentrated accounts is typically valued at lower multiples than recurring, diversified revenue that does not depend on any one person.

What does this tier ask of our own team?

An offer clients already buy, a named owner for each opportunity, and the capacity to serve more clients at the pace agreed. The rest is carried for you.
